The small video camera is attached to my head and transfers the image of my eye to the video monitor and (simply as sound signal) to the input of the computer. In the computer the changes of light (open or closed eye)is decoded and the variations control the algorythm (Pure Data). GEM software (part of PD) moves the eyeball. But this is the least important, since the movement of the virtual eye has a very remote connection to the movement of the physical eye.My point in this event was the recent thinking of a “distributed” entity. In simple case this is usually a machine or communication technology, but also a large number of humanly organized activities. The abstract bodies are made out of widely distributed and less abstract bodies. This is the case with economy, culture, politics – any kind of institutions. In the end the lowest abstract entities that make up an organism are stores, houses, and humans. But my interest is: how such a “distributed system” exists on the level of human psychology. The Eye is the input, we measure with it, transform the meaning and output it. A kind of Freudian situation (oral and anal…). Here I propose the Eye=I input/relation because it is more appropriate for a grown up person, though eating (oral) as an input, but also as an output (language) as a metaphore holds 100%. What about the other side: how can anal (shit as an output) become an input (…). It must somehow, of course.

The Eye is supposed to be either input or output – and the same with I. Is the I the excrement (the shit) also? Etc….

below is the announcement text of the project

Center in galerija P74, Prušnikova 74, Ljubljana.
